ABOUT THE WATER SERVICE LINE INVENTORY  Raymore Public Works is conducting and inventory of water service lines in order to comply with the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) mandated Lead and Copper Rule.  This inventory will cover service lines within our distribution system, including both publicly and privately owned portions of the service line. The inventory report will be submitted to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.

Public Works staff has not encountered any lead service lines in our water distribution system thus far, however we must still adhere to the compliance requirements set forth by the EPA. Maintaining an accurate inventory of all service lines will help us ensure our water remains safe for all residents.

Lead can enter drinking water through corroded lead pipes and internal plumbing most commonly found in homes built prior to 1986. Many factors can contribute to an increased amount of lead in drinking water, including the temperature, chemistry and amount of time water is in a service line.

Note: While the federal law banning lead water lines went into effect in 1986, they were not illegal in Missouri until 1989.

Staff will also inspect interior service lines unless homeowners would like to complete the City's survey and submit their interior inspection results to Raymore Public Works. Click here to take the interior service line inventory survey.
