Public Works provides essential services in the areas of Engineering, Street Maintenance, Water and Sewer Utilities. We are seeking candidates that value; the work they do; collaboration; teamwork and community.  

We provide varied services; anything from various landscaping duties to repair of water utility systems, water main breaks, road maintenance and snow removal. Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, hazardous materials, fire, unstable structures, heights, confined spaces, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, bright/dim lights, toxic agents, animal/wildlife attacks, animal bites, water hazards, or rude/irate customers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or GED is required; supplemented by four (4) years of experience in public works construction, maintenance and repair; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. MDNR Water Distribution II (DS II) License, Flagger Certification and  a valid Missouri Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with air brake and tank endorsement(s).

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS WITHIN 6 MONTHS

Must have or be able to obtain the following certifications within 6 months of hire; Work Zone Temporary Traffic Control, IMSA Signal Tech I or II, and IMSA Signs and Pavement Markings Tech I or II. ALL training and license expenses are fully paid for by the City.

The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification.  Other duties may be required and assigned.
