Experience and Education

You must meet the Minimum Job Requirements to be considered for the position of Police Officer:

  • Must be a United States Citizen

  • Must be 21 years of age

  • Must be POST certified or able to become certified

  • Have a high school diploma or GED

  • Have a valid driver’s license

  • Successfully pass all phases of the police hiring process (written tests, oral board interviews, polygraph examination, background investigation, psychological evaluation, personal history statement, physical exam and drug testing,

Reasons for automatic disqualification from the applicant process (MAY NOT BE ALL INCLUSIVE)

  • FALSE STATEMENTS: False statements of material fact/deception/fraud, or intentional withholding of the same.

  • FELONIES: No felony convictions ever and no commission of a felony in the past 5 years.

  • UNACCEPTABLE BACKGROUND: Work history, general reputation, interpersonal relationships, military service, and educational history.

  • PROBATION PAROLE: Currently on probation, parole or diversion.

  • DRIVING RECORD: DUI in past 5 years. Three or more citations within last twelve months.  Three or more chargeable or at fault accidents within the past five years.

  • NARCOTICS/CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES: Recent use of materials containing THC (marijuana, hash, etc.) or abuse of prescription drugs.  Sale of a controlled substance at any time.  Use of Opium, Heroin, Cocaine, LSD or Methamphetamine, including any derivative or variation of these drugs, at any time.

Additional Information

Must be able to rotate shifts. Shifts currently rotate annually.
