What is a Future Land Use Plan?

The Future Land Use Plan map is a component of the Comprehensive Plan – formerly referred to as the Growth Management Plan (GMP) – that establishes a land use pattern by using generalized (land use) classifications. The plan is not a mandate for singular developments, but a tool for integration and balancing different uses.

Why is this important to us?

Changing times raise questions about how best to attract investment and sustain desirable growth. Almost twenty years ago, the City laid the groundwork to adopt comprehensive utility plans that addressed the cost of infrastructure expansion and financing mechanisms necessary to facilitate anticipated land use development in the community. At that time, one of the primary goals of the Growth Management Plan was to identify and preserve the development characteristics contributing to the singular place that is Raymore.

The city of Raymore has grown exponentially in the last decade and we want to ensure the growth continues being managed in the right way. This is where you come in –  We need your help with the following:
