Candidate Filing Opens on December 17, 2024 for April 8, 2025 General Election

The General Municipal election for the City of Raymore for the offices of City Council will be held April 8, 2025. Filing for this election is open from 8 a.m. on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 through 5 p.m. on January 21, 2025. A $20 filing fee is required at the time the candidate declares candidacy. The following offices will be on the April 8, 2025 ballot:

Mayor

All voters will elect one candidate to serve a three (3) year term. Information is as follows:

Mayor, 3-year term: Seat currently held by Kristofer P. Turnbow

Councilmember

All four (4) wards will elect one candidate to serve a two (2) year term. Information is as follows:

Ward 1, 2-year term: Seat currently held by Donald Baker

Ward 2, 2-year term: Seat currently held by Joseph Burke, III

Ward 3, 2-year term: Seat currently held by Kevin Barber

Ward 4, 2-year term: Seat currently held by Tom Engert

Any Candidate filing for the office of Mayor must meet the following qualifications:

  • Be at least twenty-five (25) years of age prior to commencing the term of office of Mayor.

  • Be a resident of the City for at least two (2) years immediately preceding the election.

  • Be a citizen of the United States of America.

  • Be a qualified voter in Cass County.

  • Not be in arrears for any filing or payment of any state income taxes, personal property taxes, municipal taxes, real property taxes on the place of residence as stated on the declaration of candidacy, liens, or is a past or present corporate officer of any fee office that owes any taxes to the State, other than those taxes which may be in dispute, or forfeiture or defalcation in office.

  • Not hold any compensated elected governmental office or City employment.

  • Not have been found guilty of or pled guilty to a felony or misdemeanor under the federal laws of the United States of America or to a felony under the laws of this state or an offense committed in another state that would be considered a felony in this state.

  • File Form 5120, Affidavit of Tax Payments and Bonding Requirement, with the Department of Revenue if applicable and submit same at the time of filing a declaration of candidacy form. Failure to file Form 5120 with DOR could be subject to questions of qualification by an opposing candidate, qualified taxpayer, a registered voter, or the Department of Revenue.

Any candidate filing for the office of Councilmember must meet the following qualifications:

  • Reside in their Ward for six (6) months immediately preceding the election.

  • Be a citizen of the United States of America.

  • Be a qualified voter in Cass County.

  • Not be in arrears for any filing or payment of any state income taxes, personal property taxes, municipal taxes, real property taxes on the place of residence as stated on the declaration of candidacy, liens, or is a past or present corporate officer of any fee office that owes any taxes to the State, other than those taxes which may be in dispute, or forfeiture or defalcation in office.
